Hyundai Smart Sense Test Drive Check List
IMPORTANT: Always be careful of traffic conditions and safety around the vehicle
Your test vehicle may not be equipped with all safety systems
Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go (ACC)
- Verify front camera and front radar components are not damaged, dirty or obstructed
- Minimum speed must be at least 5MPH/10km/h
- Verify acceleration, deceleration and braking between vehicle and vehicle in front.
- Verify ACC image appears in instrument cluster
Forward Collision Avoidance Assistant (FCA)
- Verify front camera and front radar components are not damaged, dirty or obstructed
- Verify system “Collision Warning” message in the instrument cluster and generates an audible warning when vehicle detects a vehicle in front at speeds between 6MPH/10 km/h and 112MPH/180 km/h
- Pedestrian detection will operate at speeds between 6MPH/10 km/h and 53MPH/85 km/h
- Verify vehicle speed decreases and ultimately stops when getting too close to vehicle ahead
Emergency Braking (HAEB)
- Verify front camera and front radar components are not damaged, dirty or obstructed
- Verify system “Emergency Braking” message in the instrument cluster and generates an audible warning when vehicle detects a vehicle in front at speeds between 6MPH/10 km/h and 47MPH/75 km/h
- Pedestrian detection will operate at speeds between 6MPH/10 km/h and 47MPH/75 km/h
- Verify vehicle speed decreases and ultimately stops when getting too close to vehicle ahead
Junction Turning (HJTS)
- Verify front camera and front radar components are not damaged, dirty or obstructed
- Verify system “Collision Warning” message in the instrument cluster and generates an audible warning when vehicle is turning left, with turn signal engaged, detects a vehicle in front opposite lane at speeds between 19MPH/30 km/h and 44MPH/70 km/h
- Verify vehicle speed decreases and ultimately stops when getting too close to vehicle ahead
Lane Keeping Assist (LKAS)
- Verify front camera is not damaged, dirty or obstructed
- Verify Safety Button, left of the steering wheel is turned on and the Lane Driving Assist button on the right of the steering wheel is turned on
- Speed must be between 40MPH/60 km/h and 120MPH/200 km/h
- Verify system keeps vehicle within driving lanes and/or continuous vehicle centering
- Verify system presents “Place hands on the steering wheel” and generates an audible warning when your hands have been off the steering wheel for several seconds
Blind View Monitor (HBVM)
- Verify left and right gauges in instrument panel change to camera views when signaling a lane change
Blind-Spot Collision Warning (HBCW)
- Verify rear corner radar sensors are not damaged
- Speed must be above 12MPH/20 km/h and vehicle in blind spot speed is above 7MPH/100 km/h
- Turn signal must be engaged
- Verify warning light on the outside rearview mirror blinks and an audible sound is generated.
Blind-Spot Collision Avoidance (HBSCA) (While Driving)
- Verify rear corner radar sensors are not damaged
- Speed must be between 40MPH/60 km/h and 120MPH/200 km/h
- Turn signal must be engaged
- Verify warning light on the outside rearview mirror and heads-up display If equipped) blinks and an audible sound is generated.
- Verify system presents a warning message in the instrument cluster
- Verify system applies emergency braking
Blind-Spot Collision Avoidance (HBSCA) (While Departing)
- Verify rear corner radar sensors are not damaged
- Speed must be below 2MPH/3 km/h and speed of vehicle in blind spot is above 3MPH/5 km/h
- Verify system presents a warning message in the instrument cluster
- Verify system applies emergency braking
Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Avoidance Assist (RCCA)
- Verify rear corner radar sensors are not damaged
- Speed must be below 5MPH/8 km/h and speed of vehicle in blind spot is above 3MPH/5 km/h
- Oncoming vehicle must be within 82ft/25m.
- When in (R)everse, verify system generates a blinking warning on the rear-view mirror, a warning appears in the instrument cluster, an audible warning sounds and a warning appears in the Rear-View Monitor.
Rear Parking Distance Warning (HPDW)
- Verify four (4) rear ultrasonic sensors are not damaged
- Speed must be below 6MPH/10 km/h
- When in (R)everse, verify system when detectint a risk of collision with an object, system warns driver with an audible warning, steering wheel vibration and warning message on the cluster. When Rear View Monitor is operating, a warning will appear on the infotainment system screen.
- Also verify system assists with braking
Reverse Parking Collision Avoidance Assist (HRPCAA)
- Verify rear-view camera and four (4) rear ultrasonic sensors are not damaged, dirty or obstructed
- Speed must be below 6MPH/10 km/h
- When in (R)everse, verify system starts with a intermittent buzz and as vehicle gets closer object changes it beeps more frequently and finally continuously beeps
Downhill Brake Control (DBC)
- Find a steep hill
- Speed must be below 25MPH/40 km/h
- Press DBC button
- Verify vehicle’s speed decreases to less than 5 MPH/8 km/h
Safe Exit Assist (SEA)
- Verify rear corner radar sensors are not damaged
- Verify rear doors do not open when a vehicle is approaching from the rear
- Verify “Watch for Traffic” message appears in instrument cluster
- When doors are ALREADY open, Verify “Watch for Traffic” message appears in instrument cluster when a vehicle is approaching from the rear
Smart High-Beam Assist (SHBA):
- Verify system automatically switches between high and low beams
Driver Attention Warning (DAW):
- Verify front camera is not damaged, dirty or obstructed
- Verify system presents attention level bars on instrument cluster while driving vehicle
- Verify system provides visual, audible and haptic warnings
Rear Occupant Alert (ROA)
- Verify system presents “Check Rear Seats” message appears when you open the front door after opening and closing the rear door and the engine is off
- Level 2: Verify system activates horn when there is movement in the vehicle after driver’s door is closed and all doors are locked.
Highway Drive Assist (HDA)
- Verify front camera and front radar components are not damaged, dirty or obstructed
- Vehicle should be driven on a highway
- Vehicle speed must be below 95MPH/153 km/h
- Verify system keeps vehicle in lane while also maintaining acceleration, deceleration and braking between vehicle and vehicle in front and adjusts speed to vehicle speed limit with your hands off the steering wheel
