Mercedes Benz Driver Assistance Package Test Drive Checklist

IMPORTANT:    Always be careful of traffic conditions and safety around the vehicle

                        Your test vehicle may not be equipped with all safety systems

Active Distance Assist Distronic with Extended Restart

• Vehicle speed must be between 0 MPH / 0 km/h and 130 MPH / 210 km/h
• Verify system maintains a safe distance behind traffic ahead
• Verify system brings vehicle to a stop, and in stop-and-go traffic automatically resumes within 30 seconds.

Active Steering Assist

• Verify system centers vehicle in the lane of travel and can follow vehicles ahead when lane markings are unclear or unavailable.

Blind Spot Assist

• Vehicle speed must be more than 20 MPH / 32 km/h
• Verify system presents red icon in the appropriate side mirror when there is a vehicle in blind spot
• When using turn signal verify system generates audible alert

Active Blind Spot Assist

• Vehicle speed must be more than 20 MPH / 32 km/h
• Verify system keeps vehicle in lane if another vehicle is in the blind spot

Active Lane Keeping Assist

• Vehicle speed must be between 37 MPH / 60 km/h and 124 MPH / 200 km/h
• Verify system brakes wheels to help prevent vehicle from drifting out of the intended lane of travel.

Active Lane Change Assist (w/Distronic) 

• Vehicle speed must be between 49 MPH / 80 km/h and 111 MPH / 180 km/h
• Verify system helps vehicle change lanes and overtake slower traffic when the driver signals and it is safe.

Active Brake Assist with Cross-Traffic Function

• Verify system monitors for vehicles and pedestrians ahead and generates an audible and visual warning.
• Verify system provides the necessary amount of braking to prevent an impact or reduce its severity.
• Verify system brakes automatically If a pedestrian walks in front of the Mercedes.

Active Parking Assist

• Verify system helps driver search for a parking space
• Verify system maneuvers vehicle into the selected parking space and back out again.
• Verify system presents information clearly in a choice of different views in the central display of the multimedia system.

Active Emergency Stop Assist (w/Distronic)

• Verify system brings vehicle to a staged stop, activates hazard flashers, and places an emergency SOS call to get help if a driver falls asleep or suffers a medical emergency

Active Speed Limit Assist (w/Distronic)

• Verify system reads speed limit signs and adjusts vehicle speed accordingly.

Evasive Steering Assist

• Verify system provides additional support when making sudden evasive steering maneuvers.

Congestion Emergency Braking

• Verify system can determine whether or not a driver has a way around the congestion and, if not, automatically engages the emergency braking system when traffic ahead comes to a sudden stop

Traffic Sign Assist

• Verify system controls vehicle speed based on posted speed limit signs
• Verify system provides visual/visual-audible warning is given if speed limit is exceeded.
• Verify system recognizes No-entry signs and prompts to check the vehicle's direction of travel.
• Verify system provides warning on instrument cluster and the head-up display if pedestrians are detected in front of vehicle

Route-based Speed Adaptation (w/Distronic)

• Verify system automatically reduces vehicle speed based on the navigation system’s map database and the ADAS technology, slowing as the vehicle approaches exits, curves in the road, roundabouts, tollbooths, and more.
